Acclaimed Gloucester artist Russell Haines is Gloucester Brewery’s first artist in residence.
He will display his work at the new Warehouse 4 taproom at Gloucester Docks. It is part of our bid to support artist from across the city.
We have created a small art gallery space for artists to display their work available to buy. There will be a rolling programme of artists throughout the next 12 months.
We are holding a meet the artist in residence event for Russell at the brewery taproom on Wednesday December 15 between 6.30pm and 8,30pm and people can come along and chat to him and also purchase the work.
Gloucester artist Russell Haines is a well known for his contemporary expressive, vividly-coloured, emotive, expressionist style pieces. His bold, unapologetic style is a result of his extraordinary background. A former tradesman running his own business, Russell took up painting as a means of art therapy after suffering a stroke. It was then that he discovered his incredible talent for painting, and has never looked back.
The exhibition is the latest innovation from the brewery as we continue to develop our plans for the future. Since opening Warehouse 4 we have been able to increase the number of cultural events held there such as our monthly free comedy nights Brew Ha Ha. We’ve also got a number of Christmas film screenings in the taproom.
Brewery tours and distillery tours also take place twice a month where people can get an exclusive look at how we produce our beer and Fox’s Kiln Distillery spirits.
Warehouse 4 taproom and shop opened in September and contains Gloucestershire’s first self-serve bar. It is part of our major plans for future growth which are new £500,000 crowdfunding campaign will help finance.
